OUR FOUNDER

Oh. Hey Girl, heyyy!

                 I’m MeghaN

no fancy photo shoot, no tan or make-up and those curls are more than likely left over from the day before but I liked the picture and since this is the introduction you should probably know that my personal mantra is, “I’m not sorry”. I could sit here and write for hours telling you my life story, my age and where I grew up. I could go on for days about all of the crazy things that I’ve experienced in my life, what I do for a living now and how I overcame the “more issues than Vogue” phase.

I could even give you real life pep-talks about fashion, dating, friendships, family and my relationship with God that has brought me to where I am today. True life, I wrote an entire book about all of it (be sure to check it out below). But let’s be honest, you’re not here for that now are you?…

The Hey Girl, Hey! Community is not about me. It never was. I created this community to celebrate the lives and the possibilities of phenomenal young women. Women, who are going through life, refusing to settle and pushing themselves to maximize their full potential. Women,  just like you!

The Hey Girl, Hey! Community is not about me. It never was. I created this community to celebrate the lives and the possibilities of phenomenal young women. Women, who are going through life, refusing to settle and pushing themselves to maximize their full potential. Women,  just like you!

I am a little obsessed with seeing women do well for themselves and I hold a special place in my heart for the ones who have taken a few detours along the way!

What can I say? I’m a realist. Nothing good comes easy and I think that it is super important for women to learn how to take risks, fall and then get up & OWN their lives with NO LIMITS. The only people who have never fallen and had to force themselves to get back up are those who were too afraid to take a leap in the first place.

The only people who have never fallen and had to force themselves to get back up are those who were too afraid to take a leap in the first place.

     why did I get started?

Openly, I had what most people would consider “a bad childhood”. My teenage years were a little crazy and when it comes to my early twenties, I’m just going to go ahead and plead the 5th.

However, regardless of any circumstance that I was ever faced with, my mindset has always been “this can’t be it”. Since I was a little girl I knew that there was more to life and I have always believed that “you are only as great as the person that you are open to becoming”.

In 2012 I moved away from my family, my friends and the only little city I had ever known to start over. I knew where I was at that time “wasn’t it” for me and I knew I had to figure out who I was, on my own.

Almost eight years later and hundreds of self-development books, seminars, podcasts and research- I not only found myself but I also discovered my voice. I figured out how to shift my mindset, hold myself accountable and push myself to maximize my full potential in every area of my life. More importantly, I figured out how to make myself a priority and not feel bad or selfish for doing so.

So to answer your question, I got started because nobody gave me an outline. I considered the millions of women in the world who may be facing similar struggles or who may be feeling “stuck” and I wanted to find a way to use my experiences to “help a sister out”.

I believe that the only people who can truly educate you on where you’re going are the ones who know exactly what it’s like to be where you have been.

I’ve never been called Lois Lane,

so if this is the part where I pretend to be super woman- you can consider it an epic fail. I don’t know how to be anything other than my goofy, nerdy, outspoken self. Honestly, I’m just a regular young woman who doesn’t believe in excuses. I truly believe that every single one of use were meant to live an exceedingly abundant life and I truly believe that there a is higher version of you, waiting to be discovered. My goal is to help as many young women (as humanly possible) find that “higher version” of themselves before I leave this place. I know that we all have a purpose, but when it’s all said and done I want to be able to say that I lived in mine.

FUN FACTS:

LIFE GOAL: To bridge the gaps; in confidence, cultures and communities (social classes). Maybe even a Noble Peace Prize- why not?

FAVORITES: Quote-“If you are the smartest person in the room, you’re in the wrong room.” Food- Pasta. Color-Anything Neutral. Wine-Red. Hangout- “Just put me outside”.

BELIEFS: God first, “we can have anything we are willing to work for” second and “your life was designed to be lived intentionally” third.

BEST KEPT SECRETS: I’m super introverted, my “type” is a nerd- I love spending all of my time with someone I can learn from, and my degrees are in Fashion Merchandising and Marketing- you couldn’t tell the 18 year old me that she wasn’t going to live in NYC and become Carrie Bradshaw!

MUSIC GENRE: Unconventional. On any given day you could hear anything from Pre-Teen Pop to Jaz (or Soft Rock), to Rap, R&B or Worship Music blasting through my speakers. The only genre I dislike is country but if I had to pick one, I’m definitely a “90s R&B kind of girl.”

WORK EXPERIENCE: I worked in business management for 6+ years for a Fortune 500 company. There I managed over 100+ employees & established/ maintained B2B relationships with multiple million dollar establishments. I was a Financial Counselor for a little over two years, which taught me all the “things” about investments, annuities and deferred payment obligations. In that role, I got to travel a few times a month to represent my clients in court rooms, all over the country (which was pretty cool). I currently work for one of the world’s largest franchising conglomerates across the globe. My day-to-day consists of assisting multiple C-Level Executives in growing their brands and creating processes that ensure successful business models for their franchisees. Basically, we help entrepreneurs successfully bring their dreams to life- for a living!

We are all going through life, making mistakes and simply just trying to figure it out. The beauty of this is that- this process- doesn’t have a race, it doesn’t have an upbringing, and it sure as heck doesn’t have a tax bracket… The only thing that you can do in this life to maximize your full potential is focus on becoming a better version of yourself. FALL! Trust the process, Get up, Find yourself, Grow, Accept your shortcomings, Learn from your experiences and encourage other women to do the same.”

     Love Always,
                 -Meghan
