IF YOU’RE NOT GROWING, YOU’RE SHRINKING.

16 KEYS to excessive elevation:                         Copyright © 2019 HEY GIRL, HEY!

1. Define Personal Development: The first key to becoming Excessively Elevated is to Define what Personal Development means to you this year. Does it mean placing a focus on your health, your finances, your spirituality or your relationships? Does it mean learning how to set boundaries, pursue something, start something or stop something? This will be different for everyone but before you can start your journey of Personal Development you have to be able to clearly define what it means to you. Not to your family, your spouse or your friends- what does it mean, to you?

2. Show Up Before You’re Ready: The key to preparing yourself for growth in any area of your life is to practice showing up for yourself, before you are ready. In this step of the process we want you to get out of your comfort zone. Take a step forward, even if you have absolutely no idea what you are doing or where to begin. Just start doing the things that have been on your heart and on your mind lately. The things that you have been consciously or subconsciously hiding from. The things that you know would take a certain area of your life to the next level. The things that you would normally be uncomfortable doing.

3. Embrace Self Acceptance: Accept who you are and where you are. There will always be a million things to do and as you continue to grow it will always look like there is still  “so far to go” before you can actually get the things that you want and become the woman you want to be. Progress can’t be obtained if it can’t be measured and in this step you will define your starting points. Take the Self Acceptance challenge to point out a few areas of your life that you would like to see improvement in. Start this week by stating some of the characteristics that you currently posses and accept yourself and all of those things for exactly what they are, right now.

4. Become The Real MVP: On any given day, we see the highlight reels, the success stories and the benefits of others living “the good life”. Everybody wants to be seen as the most valuable player but does anyone ever stop to question the struggles? Because, behind every successful person- there are some. In order to grow in any area of your life you have to be willing and able to be vulnerable with both yourself and others. In this step you will become the REAL MVP: Most Vulnerable Player. Challenge yourself to get real about things. Define who you truly are, what you want in life and who you have to become/ what you have to do to get there.

5. Reset Your Reality: In school, you’re taught that nothing is real until you are able to see it, to touch it, to feel it. You’re told that nothing is real until it can be detected by the five basic human senses; sight, hearing, smell, touch and taste right? In this step we challenge you to reset that reality. Consider your thoughts, your dreams, and your future and redefine what is real to you. In The Secret, Rhonda Byrne states: “All that we are is a response to what we have thought.” Do you think that those big dreams, and the future that your senses can’t yet detect are real? Make them your reality.

6. Let Go: A big part of moving forward in any area of your life is learning how to ditch all of the heavy baggage that has been holding you back. Your past does not define you. All of the things that you have thought, all of the places you’ve been and all of the activities you have engaged in up until this point are what you did, they are not who you are. That woman did drugs- she was addicted, that doesn’t make her an addict. That woman fell in love and settled for less than she deserved, that doesn’t make her undeserving. In this step we challenge you to let go of every negative title you have ever given yourself and ditch all of the baggage that has been holding you back from elevation.

7. Be Brave: If you haven’t seen or heard Reshma Saujani’s Ted Talk: Teach Girls Bravery, Not Perfection you need to stop what you’re doing and check it out as her presentation perfectly lays out the reality of how society breeds girls to be perfect, not brave. “Most girls are taught to avoid risk and failure, they’re taught to smile pretty, play it safe, get all A’s. Boys on the other hand, are taught to play rough, swing high, climb to the top of the monkey bars and then just jump off- head first. They’re habituated to take risk after risk, they’re rewarded for it.” In this step we will help you get past the perfectionist mindset. You’ll learn how to stop obsessing over every detail and get comfortable taking risks.

8. Set Goals: If you don’t know what you’re working towards, what’s the point of working at all? It is imperative that you set clear goals for your life. Your goals should be set for everything- your health, your finances, your business, your relationships and the list goes on! In order to grow you will need to set clear goals and know what you are working towards on a consistent basis. They can be as simple as goals for the day or as complex as goals for the year- just make sure you have some! Download your Free Audio Training and Workbook: The Ultimate Girls Guide to Goal Mining for a full break-down on where to start!

9. Understand What Moves You: It’s easy to know (or at least have an idea) of what you want in life and most of the time you can figure out what you have to do in order to get whatever that is (pretty easily)… but have you ever asked yourself “What is going to keep you motivated (to do the things that you don’t want to do in order to get what you want)”? In this step we will help you Pin-point what get’s you excited, what motivates you to get up and take action. You have to be able to acknowledge what brings you great joy and also, what drains you. Not too sure what moves you? Take The Quiz to find out!

10. Figure Out Where to Grow:  In this step we will help you pin-point your areas of opportunity (for growth). You will evaluate your goals and pick out the habits, the activities, the people and the mindsets that you have allowed in your life- that aren’t aligned with your goals. You’ll have to be honest with yourself and write down your areas of opportunity. Do you want to have 10k in the bank by the end of the year? Great! But are you currently eating out five times a week and buying new outfits for non-monumental occasions? GIRL!, it’s cool- there’s no need to beat yourself up, picking these things out are just part of the process.

11. Shift Your Mindset:
GIRL!, cut the BS. You are enough, that was never a question. You are worthy, and capable, and deserving of every single thing that you have ever wanted. The question is not are you able, the question is are you willing?
Are you willing to acknowledge the areas of opportunity (for growth) in your life? Are you willing to ditch the negative thoughts, negative self-talk and self-sabotaging habits?   Are you willing to learn and grow and be open to taking advice from other knowledgeable people? Are you willing to push yourself to do all of the things that you don’t want to do (in order to live the life you always wanted)? There is only one thing in life that no-one else in this world will ever have control of, your mind. Here, we’re going to help you OWN it!

12. Learn: Say goodbye to Ms. Know-it-All! Any body that tells you that they have all of the answers only has one; they know nothing at all. In order to grow in any area of your life you have to be willing and motivated to learn. You will have to allocate time to learn about every aspect of the things you want to achieve. Want to start a business?- Read a book, Listen to a Podcast, Get a Mentor. Want to design a new website?- Take a course on Copy Writing, YouTube Content Creators,  Research people in similar fields that have already done it successfully! Want to get in shape?-Google Nutrition Plans, Hire a Trainer, Buy that at-home Work Out App! In this step we will help you get back that child-like sponge-brain and teach you how to question everything!

13. getupGirl!: This part is straight-forward so if you are a Sensitive Sally you might want to put your big girl pants on. Nobody said growing would be easy, they said it would be worth it. Your thoughts and ideas are only as good as the action you put behind them so in this step we will help you: Get Up GIRL! and get comfortable taking messy action. There will never be a right time or right place to do “the things”. Mel Robbins says it best: ” You are never going to feel like it!”. Get past your excuses and Just GO! Start where you are, with what you have and commit to doing the things that you don’t necessarily want to do- in order to get what you want. “Mommy and Daddy won’t be around to make you do your chores anymore”, it’s time to start holding yourself accountable and we’re going to teach you how!

14. Help a Sister Out: Get in the habit of giving and receiving, there is not a woman alive who was created to do life alone. NETWORK (with). INSPIRE. MOTIVATE. EMPOWER yourself and other women. In order to grow, there are two things you have to learn to never be ashamed of: asking for help and lending a helping hand. Find your tribe and love them hard! Be open to learning from other women and get rid of the “all is mine”-selfish mentality. There will always be enough light for everyone to shine. If you know of a program, a book, a podcast or a blog that could help another woman better herself or reach her goal- share it! If you admire another woman’s successful business model- reach out, she obviously knows what she is doing. Getting in the habit of giving and receiving will force you to become those same women you look up to. You will have to step out of your comfort zone and ask for help but you’ll either be learning or making an impact in the process- it’s a win, win for everybody.

15. Stay in Your Lane: Comparison is a killer! Be where you are and don’t allow yourself to focus on anything other than running full speed ahead- towards your goals! You never know what another woman has been through or has settled for in order to get to where she is. The life you’re seeing, admiring or wishing was yours… That’s her life. In order to grow you have to be willing and able to LIVE YOURS! Run your race and don’t miss YOUR turn worrying about where other people are in theirs. They’ve paid their dues and before you can get, do, be, see or achieve all of the things that you want in life you have to work on your timeline and pay yours. No one is better or worse than you are- they are just working on their timeline. It’s not about where you start or where you finish, it’s about becoming the woman you need to become first and living “that life” when you’ve put yourself in a position to be ready for it. In this step, we’ll help you get there!

16. Express Gratitude: Before you can get more, see more, be more and achieve more in any area of your life you have to learn how to express gratitude for everything you are now, everything you have now and everything you have ever had or been that got you to this point. Why would God, The Universe or any other higher power ever want to present you with more if you can’t even value all that you have already? In this step we will help you learn how to express gratitude on a regular basis. Be grateful for others, be grateful for everything you have already and be grateful for everything that you have ever been through. Even the “not so great “people, circumstances, & experiences were meant to teach you something. Perception is individualized, yet inevitable. You have the power to chose how you percieve things. Look at the bright side and make a choice to see “the good” in every situation.
