Hey Girl, Hey!

So I have a question for you, ladies… When you’re going through your week, running at a million miles an hour and trying to get as much done as you possibly can between the time you wake up and the time you go to sleep… what is it that moves you? What gets you excited? What helps you keep a positive attitude and feel good about doing the things that you don’t always want to do?

and on the other hand, what flat out drains you?… Do you even know?

For the longest time, I didn’t! I spent five straight years feeling stressed out, exhausted and overwhelmed. I had so many things I wanted to do and in the midst of half-way doing all of them I figured out that something had to give or I was going to burn out. When I started paying attention to what moved me I was able to focus my energy on those things and learn how to make even the “not so enjoyable tasks of the bigger picture, work for me”.

So think about this for a minute… it’s easy to know (or at least have an idea of) what you want in life and most of the time you can figure out what you have to do in order to get what ever that is, pretty easily- right? But how often do you take the time to really stop and evaluate what it is that keeps you going? What energizes you? And what makes you find reason in even the most minuscule tasks? And on the other end of the spectrum; what makes you want to slap somebody or just go home and take a nap- because “you can’t even…”?

This week we are going to jump into Key 9: What moves you? – now if you’ve been keeping up with us through each of the last few challenges you’ll notice that in our Goal Mining Training Course that I talk a lot about defining your why and going back to it on a regular basis to keep yourself motivated (to do the things that you don’t necessarily want to do in order to get what you want). Now, discovering what moves you is a little bit different. Your why is at your core, its rock solid, it doesn’t change on any given day and it doesn’t hold any more or any less weight as your circumstances change. It’s literally your meaning, it’s your end goal and the purpose behind every action that you take whether you’re happy, sad, well rested or flat out exhausted. Your why is that deep-rooted meaning behind everything that you do.

On the other hand, the things that move you will change constantly with different jobs, different projects and different stages of your life. These are the things that make you excited, the things that make you feel good, the things that energize you and allow you to keep a positive attitude about doing the things that you don’t always want to do. These are the things that make you feel comfortable and confident in yourself (and your work) because they allow you to be who you already are. These things aren’t forced, they don’t leave you feeling exhausted after doing them- these are the things that take that annoying feeling of obligation out of the picture.

So in order to maximize your productivity and keep a positive attitude about doing the things that you don’t always want to do you have to be aware of your energy and you have to be able to acknowledge what brings you joy and also… what drains you. If you are always feeling tired and exhausted it’s not because you’re doing too much its because you’re not doing enough of what makes that light shine in you.

For each individual this is going to be different- if you’re a family person, flexibility is probably what moves you… you do your best work at home, on your couch, after eating dinner with your spouse and kids. You don’t want to be tied to overtime or working holidays- you don’t want to miss your children’s school play in the middle of the day- you want to be able to work on projects on your time and you are most efficient when you have the flexibility to do that. Space restrictions and time restraints will literally drain the life out of someone who is moved by flexibility.

If you’re a visionary, creative freedom is probably what moves you… you do your best work when you are able to be seen and heard and toss ideas around without being locked into a strict scope of work… You don’t want to be tied to a project outline or someone else’s vision. You want to be able to create a concept and you work best knowing that you have the freedom to bring your ideas to life without a straight path from A to Z.

but regardless of who you are- You have to figure out what moves YOU and then find ways to do more of whatever that is in your job, your business and your relationships.

Check your results!

you’ll love what you find out…

THIS WEEKS CHALLENGE:

Understand What Moves You

This week I am challenging you ladies to figure out what it is that moves you! We’ve created a quick and easy quiz to help you identify what moves you (based on your personality). I want each of you to go take the quiz, identify what moves you and then find at least two ways to incorporate your results into your day to day life this week!

By the end of next week I guarantee you’ll feel more energized and have a better attitude about tackling your day to day “obligations”. Also, if you follow up on Instagram share the What Moves You Graphic from our Q&A to your story with your answer. Sis, you’ve got this!

Be sure to: Leave a comment below or on our YouTube Channel, Send us an email, Shoot us a DM (via Instagram or Facebook), Tag us in your posts and/or videos and use the hashtags #getupGirl and #getupGirlchallenge.

Our community is here to cheer you on and we can’t wait to see what you ladies accomplish this week. Let’s start Goal Mining Queen!
