Hey Girl, Hey!

First and foremost I want to thank you all for your participation in our challenges so far! The amount of love we are seeing for our company, our community and for yourselves has been unreal! Bare with me as I am still getting used to holding a conversation with a camera- definitely a little awkward if it’s not something that you are used to doing but it’s all about progression, right?!

The second key in 16 Keys to Excessive Elevation is to Embrace Self Acceptance. I’m well aware that this could mean an array of things but for the purposes of this challenge I want you all to think about who you are, where you are and what characteristics and mindsets you currently posses in this very moment.

Here’s the thing ladies, progress can’t be obtained if it can’t be measured. In order for you to grow or move forward to elevate any area of your life to the next level you have to be able to pin-point where you started. So, to put it blatantly- I’m telling you to pick today. Evaluate your typical day-to-day behaviors, habits and mindsets. Consider some of the characteristics that you posses and some of the things that you do on “auto-pilot” with out even realizing it.

In this challenge you are going to acknowledge what these things are and pick out the ones that you would like to improve on or get better at, then turn them into a statement. An example would be: I …make unreasonable purchases- you are going to accept that for exactly what it is in this very moment by adding “and that is okay” at the end of the statement.

The purpose of this exercise is to help you define your starting points. Key 1: Define Personal Development helped you get in the mindset of making yourself a priority this year and allowed you to clearly define what personal development means to YOU. This step will help you accept yourself, your habits and the things that you know you can improve on without making your current circumstances seem like  “a bad thing”. You have to be able to accept your true authentic self for exactly who you are before you can begin to grow or build in any area of your life. Growth without self acceptance is like building a house on quick-sand, you’ll never be able to go up without a solid foundation to keep you grounded.

3. Embrace Self Acceptance: Accept who you are and where you are. There will always be a million things to do and as you continue to grow it will always look like there is still  “so far to go” before you can actually get the things that you want and become the woman you want to be. Progress can’t be obtained if it can’t be measured and in this step you will define your starting points. Take the Self Acceptance challenge to point out a few areas of your life that you would like to see improvement in. Start this week by stating some of the characteristics that you currently posses and accept yourself and all of those things for exactly what they are, right now.

THIS WEEKS CHALLENGE:

Embrace Self Acceptance

This week I am challenging you to accept yourself for exactly who you are in this very moment. You personality, your beliefs, your habits, your relationships, your mindset. It’s time to dig-deep ladies. Ask yourself- who are you really? Then bring her to the party!

If you know me, then you know I’m a huge Gabrielle Union fan and I was just a little bit obsessed with the show Being Mary Jane so in honor of the last season, we’ll be incorporating some post-it notes!

This week, I challenge you to make a true, vulnerable statement about yourself and accept that part of you for exactly what it is in this moment. This can be anything: “I don’t make enough time for relationships”, “I don’t exercise as often as I should”, “I make poor meal choices”, “I feel bad saying no” etc. Consider the areas of your life, the characteristics and mindset you currently posses and the day-to-day habits that you would like to see improvement in or get better at.

I challenge you to make ONE statement about yourself every night this week- by writing it down on a post-it note. You will write the statement out and complete it with “and that is okay”. Once you’ve completed the statement with “and that is okay”, you will stick the post-it note on your bathroom mirror before you go to bed. In the morning you will wake up, look yourself in the eye and read the entire statement with “and that is okay” out-loud.

These statements are going to help you accept certain areas of your life as they are in this very moment and help you define your starting points in the weeks to come. Note: jot down whatever comes to mind. Keep in mind that some of these things may not be “areas of opportunity for growth” they may just be a simple mindset shift. Don’t over-think it, just GO! Accept yourself Queen! For the self-loving, progress-achieving, pushing-to-get-better phenomenal woman that you are.
